Java is an object-oriented programming language and was developed by Oracle. It can be used in a wide range of application areas, for example, desktop applications, mobile applications, games, web applications and many more.
You need a software development environment (IDE) for the Java programming language. There are many IDEs you can use to write, test and run Java code. You will also need the Java development kit (JDK).
In Java, there are two types of data types: primitive data types and object types. Primitive data types include simple data types such as integers, floating point numbers, characters and boolean values. Object types contain objects that are instances of classes.
In Java, a class is a template of objects with similar properties. For example, a car class could be a class containing car characteristics (model, color, speed, etc.). Objects are instances created from a class. In this example, you can create an Audi car object, which will be an instance of the car class.
Inheritance is the transfer of characteristics of one class to another class. In Java, the keyword "extends" is used for a class to inherit features from other classes. For example, you can create an animal class and have the cat and dog classes inherit the animal class.
The most widely used database management system for the Java programming language is MySQL developed by Oracle. However, other database management systems such as PostgreSQL and Apache Derby are also widely used.
